ALBERT - Stephen Martin Albert completed his life's journey and left this world with angels by his side on Friday, August 13, 2010. He passed away peacefully at his home in Regina at the age of 80 years. Steve was born on August 6, 1930, at the family farm in the Quinton District. Steve was predeceased by his parents Frank and Elizabeth Albert; brothers Ernie & Frank; and sister Mary (Willie) George. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Julia of 54 years; his children Glen, Brent (Ann), Yvette (Mike) Labatt, Kevin, Trevor (Giselle), & Troy; 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; sisters Julia (Jim) Luthi, Ev (Gord) Borbandy, Clara Wendland, & Jen (Larry) Christainsen; brother Dennis (Marg) Albert; and sisterin-law Shirley Albert. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Cecilia R.C. Church, 5020 7th Avenue, at 10:30 am on Tuesday, August 17, 2010. Lunch to follow Mass in the church hall. Interment will follow at the Immaculate Conception R.C. Cemetery, Quinton, SK, at approximately 3:00 pm. Luncheon to follow in the Quinton Town Hall.
BECKER - William "Bill" late of Semans, formerly of Grande Cache, Alta. It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Bill at Nokomis Health Centre on July 13, 2005. Born in Quinton August 16, 1933. He was predeceased by his parents Henry and Betty (nee Meyer), brother Henry (Frances) and nephew Calvin Becker. He leaves to mourn his loving wife Ellen, children Myrna (Allan) Redshaw, Danny (Sharon) Becker, Marilyn (Rev. William) Pantzer, Judy (Vince) Deschene, seven grandchildren, six step grandchildren, four great grandchildren, numerous step great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Memorial Service celebrating Bill's life will be held on Monday July 18, 2005 at Semans Gym at 2:00 p.m.
BEUG - Alma Emma (nee Wittmeier) was born July 30, 1917 in Thalberg, Manitoba. After moving to the Quinton, Saskatchewan area she met and married John Beug. They were together for 62 years. Alma was a pioneer, not afraid of hard work, and was instrumental in making their farming business a success. She told many stories of hardships endured during the depression years and of how their adaptability and perseverance would keep them going. These same attributes were apparent up until her passing on Saturday, January 15, 2011. Alma was predeceased by her husband John; her parents; and two brothers. Mom will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by her children: son Erwin (Elaine) Beug and their children, Sandi, Erwin J. R., Patricia; daughter Verna Alford (Richard Schneider); daughter Iris (Albert) Hovind and their children, Wanda, Kerry, Winona, Myrna; son Malcolm (Marilyn) Beug and their children, Melanie, Jason; son Alvin (Anica) Beug and their children, Anthony, Phillip, Venus and his daughter Angela; son Terrence (Karol) Beug and their children, Shawn, Jennifer, Justin; son Norman (Jocelyn) Beug and their children, Eden, Portia, Mason; daughter Karen Chernesky; daughter Delilah (Karl) Schwab and their children, Christoph, Corey. Alma was very proud of her 9 children, 21 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. She was a woman of great love, courage and determination who took joy and pride in her family along with their successes. An avid reader, Alma was always interested in current events, enjoyed great conversations and loved to laugh. Intelligent, eager to learn, her mastery of solving crossword puzzles was apparent as she always used pen. We will always remember her beautiful voice and how on any occasion be it at home, trips to the lake or just a short ride to town we would all sing favorite songs. She believed in community spirit; contributing as a PTA member, part time substitute teacher, or serving as an Honored Royal Lady for the Raymore Order of the Royal Purple. Embracing progress; she was the first woman in Quinton to obtain a drivers license, to the pride of her family. Accomplished and creative; she delighted in sewing numerous treasured baby blankets, precious stuffed toys and lovely patchwork quilts. She enjoyed adventure, taking many trips; Europe, USA, Saskatchewan fishing, winter retreats to Arizona, Mexico and Texas. Our family has lost a great treasure, a great leader, great light, the great love who was our mother. This loving, wise, and spirited woman was very much loved and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Alma's family would like to sincerely thank the William Albert Care Home of Emerald Park and their wonderful staff where Alma (Sweet Pea with the beautiful smile) was lovingly cared for in her golden years. Sweet Pea will bloom forever in God's beautiful garden. CRONK - Ernest (Ernie) passed away peacefully on the morning of Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at the age of 84. He leaves to mourn son Garth (Bev) Cronk, Regina; daughter Kathie Cronk, Vancouver; daughter Bev Meyer, Regina son Byron Cronk, Regina; grandchildren: Jennifer (Joel), Jonathan, Michelle, Geoff, Chad (Nicole), Jolene, Aaron and Ashley and great grandchildren: Blake, Logan, Hannah and Ethan. Ernie was predeceased by his wife Yvette in 2006; son-in-law Wayne Meyer in 1993; his parents Stanley and Caroline Cronk; one bother Ralph and his wife Darlene Cronk. Ernie was born on October 24, 1924 in Quinton, SK. He later graduated from Notre Dame in Wilcox. After moving to Indian Head he met and married Yvette Pilon on August 12, 1953. They owned and operated the United Store, The Red and White Store and built Cronk's Tomboy in 1967. They moved to Regina in 2005 for health reasons. Ernie was a long time member of the Elks. He owned several successful race horses and he enjoyed his time at the race track. He could frequently be found at the hockey rink, curling rink or the ball diamonds as an avid spectator and sponsor of many teams. The family extends a special thanks to the staff at the Cherished Hearts Personal Care Home. The funeral mass will be celebrated by Rev. Leonardo Tamayo in St. Joseph's R.C. Church, Indian Head, Sk on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with interment of cremated remains in Indian Head Cemetery. Prayers will be held in the Church Friday at 7:30.
DEGELMAN - Michael Frank (Aug 1911 - Dec 2009). Our family wishes to announce the passing of Mike F. Degelman of Quinton, SK, after a joyous life of 98 years. He leaves to mourn his wife of 75 years, Vera (Schachtel); son, Bob (Diane) Degelman; daughters, Connie (Keith) Firnesz, Rhonda (Bob) McCauley and Shelley (Ralph) Eliasson; grandchildren, Tim (Paula) Degelman, Todd (Monique) Degelman, Tyler (Angie) Degelman, Lindsay (Todd) Davis, Raegan (Nekky) Jamal and Mitchell Eliasson; as well as great grandchildren, Brock and Dane Degelman, Noah, Rashelle and Paul Degelman, Ava, Carter and Lucas Degelman, Nate and Eric Davis and many nieces and nephews. Mike was born on August 9th, 1911 to Frank Degelman and Minnie Loreth on the Raymore homestead. He was the sixth child of ten and was predeceased by his siblings, John, Kate, Frank, Joe, Anne, Charlie, Bill and George. His youngest sister, Bertha is still living in the United States. He lost his mom when he was eight years old and his dad later married Mrs. Frederick who brought Ledia, Arthur and Albert into the family. Mike and Vera farmed in the Raymore area for a number of years and then moved to Punnichy for a few years where Mike had a dray business. They finally settled in the Quinton area where they ran a general store for more than a decade. When they sold the store they farmed north of town for many years. As well, Mike drove the school bus for many years, served on Town Council, was Mayor for a couple of years, and served his parish in many capacities. Mike and Vera travelled to McAllen, Texas every winter for 25 years, where they made many good friends and had many a good time. The family wishes to thank Silver Heights in Raymore for their loving care for the past year and a half. We celebrate a great life our dad and grandpa was a man of great faith he would want us to celebrate, share a laugh and not shed too many tears. The Funeral Liturgy and Celebration of his life will held on Sunday, January 3rd, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. from Queen's House of Retreats (601 Taylor Street West). DEGELMAN - Vera (nee Schachtel) Degelman (August 11, 1913 - January 5, 2012). It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of our Mom, Vera (Schachtel) Degelman of Quinton, SK at the age of 98 years. Mom was born on the family farm at Quinton on August 11, 1913. She was the fifth child of ten born to Gottlieb and Marie (Fogel) Schachtel. She married Mike Degelman on December 9, 1934 and together they enjoyed a long and happy life, celebrating seventy-five years of marriage on December 9th, 2009. Vera will be lovingly remembered by her children; son, Bob (Diane) Degelman of Melfort; daughters, Connie (Keith) Firnesz of Calgary, Rhonda (Bob McCauley) of Oakville, Ontario and Shelley (Ralph) Eliasson of Watrous; grandchildren, Tim (Paula) Degelman, Todd (Monique) Degelman, Tyler (Angie) Degelman, Lindsay (Todd) Davis, Raegan (Nekky) Jamal and Mitchell (Jamie) Eliasson; great-grandchildren, Brock and Dane Degelman, Noah, Raquelle and Paul Degelman, Ava, Carter and Lucas Degelman and Nate and Eric Davis; her sister, Bertha Dionne; sisters-in-law, Mary Schachtel, Ann Degelman and numerous nieces and nephews. DEUTSCH - Alma Marie(nee Hordos) Deutsch of Raymore, passed away Friday morning February 4th, 2011 in Fort Qu'Appelle Hospital at the age of 67 years. Born on February 12th, 1943, Alma was raised on the family homestead near Quinton, Sask. Alma attended both Ravensburgh as well as Quinton Schools. Alma went on to work as hired help in the Semans area until she married Stanley Deutsch on October 11, 1962. Together they raised their four children on the Family Heritage farm near Quinton. Upon retirement in 2001, Alma and Stanley moved to Raymore. Alma had a great love for her family and enjoyed cooking and baking their favourite meals. Alma was very strong in her Catholic faith. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, bird watching, crocheting and enjoyed collecting owl ornaments. Alma is lovingly remembered by family, relatives and friends, including her husband, Stanley; son, Shawn; daughter, Tina Orban (Cody); son, Todd (Lesley); grandchildren, Brandon, Brooklyn and Brett Orban and Zoe Deutsch. She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Alma Hordos; brother, Joe Hordos and son, Sidney Deutsch. DEUTSCH - Gladys C. (January 3, 1934 - November 17, 2009). Gladys of Quinton, Sask. at the age of 75 years passed away quietly, after suffering with cancer at Balcarres Sask. Gladys is predeceased by her husband Henry, parents Harry & Rose Hignett and son-in-law Sidney Stocken. She is survived by her four children Janice Deutsch, Shirley Yerhoff, Gloria Stocken and Thomas (Rhonda) Deutsch; nine grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren; One brother John (Deanna) Hignett of Imperial, SK; sister Madge Zirk of Maple Ridge B.C.; many brother & sister-inlaws, numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, best friend Dolores Nelson. DEUTSCH - Henry passed away at Lestock Hospital to be with the Lord on May 2, 2008 at the age of 80. Predeceased by his parents Karl and Agnes Deutsch, sister Mechtilda Cutler, three half brothers John, Charlie and William and two half sisters Elizebeth Schuller and Bertha Deutsch and son-in-law Sydney Stockten. Henry is survived by his loving wife, Gladys of 56 years. Their four children Janice of Kelowna, Shirley of Regina, Gloria of Kelowna and Tom (Rhonda) Balcarres. Nine grandchildren Michael, Kristina (Derrick), Sarah, Christopher, Chrystal, Charmaine, Cherie (Jeramiah), Katriona, and Karissa. Three great grandchildren Priscilla, Preston and Braxton. Brothers: Joe, Walter, Albert (Minnie), Stanley (Alma) and half brother Rudy. Sisters, Agnes (Dave) twin-Rose, half sisters Mary, Ann and Fanny plus numerous nieces and nephews. Henry worked hard at several jobs in various towns in Sask. over the years. He worked for CN railroad, on road construction, as a school bus driver, and a school janitor. He owned a general store, a second hand store, cafe, septic tank business and laundry mat. He also enjoyed scrap metal collecting. He was enjoying his retirement in Quinton until becoming ill with complications from pneumonia and infection. He will truly be missed by his family and friends. Funeral Services will be held May 10, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. at the Roman Catholic Church in Quinton, Sask.
DEUTSCH - Mary Josephine (nee Engel). On Saturday, February 17, 2007, our mother and grandmother passed away at Santa Maria Senior Citizens Home in Regina, at the age of 91 years. Born October 21, 1915 in Leipzig, Saskatchewan, she was the oldest of three born to Joseph and Philomene Engel. Mary was predeceased by her parents, husband William (Bill) in 1983, and two brothers, Ernest and Joe. Mary is survived and will be greatly missed by daughter Dianne (Albert) Kaminski, their children Terry (Michelle), grandchildren Meagan and Sarah, Jeff (Mary) and son Gerry (Jane) and children Robert (Monika) and Mitchell (Ruth McHale and her children Myles and Kayla), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mary and Bill were married July 10, 1945 and farmed in the Quinton area until 1974 at which time they retired to Melfort. In 2000, Mary moved to Regina to be closer to family. Growing up through WWII and the "dirty thirties", Mary lived frugally but enjoyed the joy of gardening and raising her pride and joy roses, and a multitude of other plants and flowers. Mary also loved animals and birds, having many pets including raising budgie birds. Mary had a strong commitment to church and community, serving on the Catholic Women's League and devoting much time to volunteer work. The loves in Mary's life were her family, gardening, and prayer. A Prayer Service will be held from Our Lady of Consolation Roman Catholic Church, Melfort, SK on Friday, February 23, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. and the Funeral Mass on Saturday, February 24, 2007 at 10:30 a.m.
DEUTSCH - Sidney James (September 26, 1963 - November 8, 2006). It is with sadness we announce the passing of Sid at the Lestock Hospital following a battle with cancer. He is dearly loved and remembered by his parents, Stanley and Alma Deutsch of Raymore; brothers, Shawn of Grande Prairie, AB and Todd (Lesley) and their daughter, Zoe `Boo Boo' of Quinton, SK ; his sister, Tina Orban and her children, Brandon, Brooklyn, and Brett of Cupar, SK; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Frank and Alma Hordos and paternal grandparents, Karl and Agnes Deutsch. Sid was born in Lestock and received his schooling at Quinton and Raymore. He worked as a mechanic in Craven, Drake, and lastly with Andy's Bossland in Raymore for the past 22 years. Sid was always called on to fix anything from a computer to the kitchen sink. He enjoyed gardening, especially caring for his flowers. He had a special way with cats who loved him dearly. He especially enjoyed a good game of cards. He will be missed greatly by all those who knew him. DOSDALL - Emma E. (nee Winkler) March 26th, 1920 - January 25th, 2011. The family of Emma are saddened by her passing at the Parkland Lodge in Melfort at the age of 90. Emma will be lovingly remembered by her children, Diane (Bob) Degelman, Lynn (Patricia) Dosdall, and Deborah (Chris) Goulard; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, Tim (Paula, Brock, Dane) Degelman, Todd (Monique, Noah, Raquelle, Paul) Degelman, Tyler (Angie, Ava, Carter, Lucas) Degelman, Cory (Sandra, Mackenzie) Dosdall, Jason (Joanna, Ethan) Dosdall, Amber and Janelle Goulard; siblings, Minnie Kunitz, Gladys (George) Sebastian, Rudy (Caroline) Frankl; dear friend, Rita Engel; caregivers, Collette Brockman, Fran Perrot; numerous nieces and nephews. Emma was predeceased by her husband, Bill, in 1982, and sisters, Teresa and Lena. Emma was born March 26, 1920 to Martin and Elizabeth Winkler in the Quinton district. She married William Dosdall October 19, 1939. They farmed until 1947 when they bought the general store in Quinton which Emma managed until 1968 while Bill continued to farm. Emma was very active in her community a member of the Housing Authority, CWL, church choir, Hospital Auxiliary, a scrutineer and volunteer at all municipal and provincial elections, and all community recreation activities. She was particularly active in the church, caring for altar vestments and decorating. She loved gardening and playing cards and was a fabulous cook and baker. She was a very generous, quiet and gentle soul whom everyone loved. In 2009, after numerous mini strokes, she moved to Parkland Place in Melfort. We would like to thank all of the caregivers at Parkland, Dr. McHattie, Dr. Lavoie and all the friends who came to visit her. The Vigil for Emma will be held on Friday, January 28th at 7:30 p.m. at Queens House of Retreats, 601 Taylor St. West, Saskatoon. DOSDALL - Katherine. June 4, 1908 - October 21, 2007 Katherine was born on a farm near Quinton, Sask. and passed away peacefully at the Hardisty Extended Care facility. She was predeceased by her husband Emil Slim, son Claude, granddaughter Jacinda and great-granddaughter Angela. She leaves to mourn her son LeRoy (Belva) of Hardisty, seven grandchildren, seventeen greatgrandchildren and her daughter-in-law, Doris Maranda. A memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Killam, AB on Friday, October 26, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. with Reverend Larry Pederson officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Hardisty Cemetery.
DOSDALL - The death of Mary Dosdall, age 85 years, of Quinton, SK occurred at the Borden Care Home on April 3, 2002. Mary was born on April 15, 1916 on the farm near Broadacres, SK. In 1940 Mary married Peter Dosdall of Quinton. They resided on a farm near Quinton for 42 years. In 1982, Peter and Mary retired and moved into Quinton. Mary is survived by her sister, Margaret Schell of Kerrobert, SK; son, Con Dosdall of Calgary, AB and daughter, Sylvia (Bruce) of Borden, SK; grandchildren, Shona (Bob), Kimberly, Jill, Craig, Brett; and great-grandson, Bobby. Mary was predeceased by husband, Peter, in 1990; three sisters, Theresa, Betty, Alice; three brothers, Frank, Ted, Sil. The Memorial Service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 8, 2002 at the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Quinton, SK with Interment in the Parish Cemetery.
ECKEL - Agnes, age 94, passed away on May 5th, 2004 at the Silver Heights Special Care Home in Raymore, SK. She is dearly loved and remembered by her four sons and two daughters, Joe A. (Yolanda) Eckel, Frank (Tilly) Eckel, Albert (Betty) Eckel, Rita Weisbrod, Leonard Eckel (Mary Austin) , and Christine (Michael) Janusz; her 23 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband George (1964), her infant son Ronald (1941), her grandson Brian Eckel (2002), her son-inlaw Fred Weisbrod (1993), her brother Andrew and three sisters, Anastasia, Theresa and Katie. It is with ultimate sadness yet joy in knowing she is gone to her Savior, that her family announces the passing of their loved one on Wednesday, December 6, 2000 at the Long Lake Valley Integrated Health Facility, Imperial, SK at the age of 91 years. Rose was born on February 12, 1909 at Tramping Lake, Sask. where she grew up and attended school. She worked in Saskatoon until marrying Joe Till in 1936. Together they operated the Quinton Hotel until 1947 when they purchased the Holdfast General Store. They operated the store until Joe's passing in 1968. Rose married Ben Folk in 1977 enjoying their senior years together until Ben's passing in 1997. Rose leaves to cherish her memory her son Richard (Sophia) Till, her sister Veronica (Joe) Eckel, sister-in-law Minnie Wagner, son-in-law John Frohlick, grandchildren: Bernadette Till, Deborah (Gerry) Folk, Shirley (Trevor) Maerz, Connie Koch, Gayle (Don) Maier, Rodney Frohlick; great-grandchildren: Steven, Keith and Kevin Folk, Rhonda (Chad) Minchuk, Wesley Maerz, Jaclyn and Vicki Koch, Dean and Krysten Maier, Clarke, Jay and Blake Frohlick, great-great grandson Draydon Parker Folk; stepchildren Dennis (Linda) Folk, Joan (Dick) Mohr, Larry (Selma) Folk, step-grandchildren: Rod (Brenda) Folk, Nicole, Deanne and Lisa Mohr, Jenene and Craig Folk. GLIDDON - Elaine Irene (nee Staudinger) June 5th, 1952 - August 6th, 2011. Elaine Irene Gliddon beloved wife of Wesley Gliddon for 27 years, passed away suddenly at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina on August 6, 2011 in her 59th year. She is survived by her husband Wesley, sister Rayleen (Gordon) Martin, Joan Moorman, Debbie Staudinger as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Elaine was born at Humboldt Sask. and grew up on the family farm in Verndale, Sask. After high school Elaine continued her education to become a teacher. Elaine had a passion for animals and travelling and had hoped to one day travel to the mountains. Elaine was very much a family person who always thought about others well being before her own. Elaine shared with her family countless hours of jokes, corresponding by email and telephone calls.Memorial Service for Elaine will be held on Monday, August 15th from the Quinton Roman Catholic Church @ 11:00 am. GYORFI - Bill of Regina Pioneer Village passed away Sat. Aug. 9th, 2003. Born in Quinton, SK on Jan. 1st, 1919. He is survived by his daughter Marlene (Ralph) Lessing of Fort St. John, BC, son Kenneth Gyorfi of Oyama, BC, daughter Jane Gyorfi of Burnaby, BC and son Terry Gyorfi of Chilliwack, BC, and his good friend Tony (Louise) Yaremchuk of Regina & Victoria, BC. Bill worked as a foreman for Bridge Building crew for the C.N.R. in Quinton and Watrous, he later relocated to Regina in his fourties and was separated from his family. He lived in rooming houses & the Salvation Army and worked part time doing odd jobs, like sweeping sidewalks and shoveling snow for the Army & Navy Dept. store. In 1994 he relocated to Regina Pioneer Village where he lived until his passing. Special thanks to Lloyd Churchill and Russ Phillis of the Salvation Army and all the staff at Pioneer Village. Memorial services will be held at Pioneer Village Chapel, Thursday, August 14th at 10:00 a.m.
HARTL - Mary Hartl (nee Dittrick) late of Abbotsford, passed away on December 12 at Menno Hospital. Mary was born in Austria-Hungary on December 19th, 1899, and had lived in 3 centuries. Mary came to Canada with her parents Peter and Katarina Dittrick in 1902. They lived in Winnipeg; Sedwick, Alta. and Maple Creek, Sask. before coming to Raymore, Sask. There she met and married Andreas Frehs in 1917, but unfortunately he died of the flu in 1918. A daughter born of that marriage also died the following year of whooping cough. In 1919 she married Philip Hartl with whom she shared 60 years. They farmed at Quinton, Sask. until 1968, when they retired to Abbotsford. Mary and Philip had five children Elsie (Dick) Smith of Bonnyville, Alta; Edna (Jim) Hornet of Calgary; Albert (Mary) of Raymore, Sask.; Rudy (Bea) of Abbotsford and Bert (Al) Kenny of Abbotsford. There are 25 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Philip in 1980 and a grandson Murray Hartl in 1953. Prayers for Mary Hartl will be held at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 33333 Mayfair St. at 7:00 PM on Dec. 18. Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00PM at St. Ann's on December 19. No flowers by request.

HAUS -Muriel Janice (nee Schuler) passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 after a courageous battle with Cancer at the age of 63. She is survived by Rodney, her loving and devoted husband of 46 years; and her two daughters: Wanda (Roger) Digney , and their children Tara (Brett) Hillis, Milo and Rowan; and Jeffrey and Jared Digney; and Lorelei (Bradley) Paulsen, and their children: Chelsey, Brittany, Breanne and Dalton Paulsen. She is also survived by her brother and sisters: Charles (Marge) Schuler, Irene Phillips, Emma (John) Middelkoop, Kathy (Bob) Keep, Betty Danchuk, and Dorothy (Dennis) Lorenz. Inlaws: Dale Haus, Gloria (Victor) Senft, Lorna (Clarence) Charko, Gerry Haus, Marilyn (Reg) Poisson, and Keith (Carmen) Haus; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. At Muriel's request, there be no funeral service. Cremation with an interment at Quinton R.C. Cemetery will occur at a later date.
HAUS - Olga Marie Johanna (nee Plohr). On Friday, November 1st, 2002, Olga Marie Haus, late of Raymore, SK., passed away at the age of 85 years at the Regina General Hospital. She was born July 19, 1917 to Wilhelm and Conradine (nee Nissen) Plohr, and was the middle child of nine siblings. She went to school at Mission Lake, there she met Alex Haus. They were married Nov 20th, 1940 and had eight children. They farmed south of Quinton, a couple of miles from where she was born. She remained on the farm until 1989 when she and Gerry moved to Raymore. Olga loved the tranquility of farm life. She was a devoted mother and a caregiver for 55 years. Her joy was her garden and family. Plants thrived under her loving care. She was an exceptional homemaker and cook. The coffee pot was always on and she usually had something freshly baked from her oven to offer to anyone who called on her. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Olga was predeceased by her parents, her husband Alex in 1979, a son Harvey in 1958, three sisters Helen Focht, Louise Simpson, Irmgard Travis and one brother William Plohr. She leaves to mourn her death four sons; Dale, Raymore, SK., Rodney (Muriel), Punnichy, SK., Gerald, Raymore, SK., and Keith (Carmen), Raymore, SK., three daughters: Gloria (Victor) Senft, Punnichy, SK., Lorna (Clarence) Charko, Emerald Park, Regina, and Marilyn Purdy (Reg Poisson) of Redcliff, AB. HORDOS - Joseph Hordos Jr., 84 years of Lanigan and formerly of Raymore, passed away peacefully at Central Parkland Lodge, Lanigan on Saturday, July 18, 2009. Joseph was born on January 18, 1925 at home on the family farm south of Quinton, SK to Joseph Sr. and Rose (nee Horvath) Hordos. He was the second eldest in a family of six. He and his four brothers and one sister attended Ravensworth School, and attended mass at St. Mary's Country Church. Joe spent most of his life farming. On October 27, 1953, he married Rose Marie Molnar. They farmed together until 1984, when due to Joe's failing health they retired and moved into Raymore. True to his farm ways, he and Rose Marie had a yard full of flowers and vegetables. Joe loved to visit with family and friends, play cards and crokinole, go for coffee and drives in the country. Because of health reasons, Joe and Rose Marie made another move, this time to Lanigan in 2005. Joe will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Rose Marie Hordos; adopted granddaughter, Kim Hengstler; sister, Gizella (Frank) Toth; brothers, Andrew (Helen) Hordos and John (Anne) Hordos; sister-in-law, Victoria Hordos, numerous nieces, nephews and many, many friends. Joe was predeceased by his parents, Joseph Sr. and Rose Hordos; brothers, Gabe and Steve; a sister in infancy; and in-laws, Bill and Violet Molnar and Joe and special sister-in-law Pearl Molnar. The Prayer Service for Joe will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. and the Funeral Mass will be offered on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. Both services will be held at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Lanigan. Sharon was born on September 18, 1956 in Lestock, SK. She married Lorne Horvath on June 14th, 1975 and was a great mother to her three children. Sharon and Lorne worked together for years at Lorne's Paint Shop until her health failed. She loved being outside working in her garden and her shopping trips to Regina. Sharon's last few years were difficult on her and she fought with determination. HORVATH - Stephen passed away suddenly on Sunday July 23, 2006 at the age of 69 years. Stephen is predeceased by his parents John and Rose, two brothers Gordon and John, and one son-in-law Jim Brown. Left to cherish his memories is his family; two sons, Duane and and Marlow, three daughters, Darla (Darren) Hamp, Lori (Randy) Jasper, and Shauna (Lindsay) Britton, seven grandchildren : Riley, Rhett, Travis, Trevor, Rylan, Kasandra, and Mitchell, one brother Alex, three sisters Rose, Helen, and Julie, as well as many nieces and nephews. We will always remember Dad's wittiness and thoughtfulness. He never missed a birthday, he consistently phoned us every week, and he made delicious meals for every holiday. HUBELIT -Sonia (nee Bzdel) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 surrounded by her family. She was born August 19th, 1927 and grew up on the family farm near Bankend, SK. She married George Hubelit on July 12, 1953. As the wife of a teacher they lived in various communities until settling in Quinton, SK. in 1965. Sonia will be remembered for her abundant garden and beautiful flowers, her joy of baking and her love for her grandchildren and great grandchildren including Tyler, Travis and Tanner. In her spare time she loved to knit, crochet, quilt and enjoy the occasional card game. All of her family and friends have fond memories of the times they spent with Sonia at the cabin at Fishing Lake. She was predeceased by her husband, George and her two infant sons, Malcolm and Wayne. She will be missed by Cindy, her husband Rick, their children Chrissy; Cory and his wife, Sheena along with their children, Keegan and Alina; Arlene; Glenda, her husband Rob, along with their children, Ramsey and Reed; Dianne; Myra, her husband Jon and their children, Kiera and Liam; as well as friends and neighbors. HUBICK - Ewald passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his wife (Ida) and his family on Monday, May 29, 2006 at the age of 84 years. Left to mourn his passing and honour his memory are his devoted wife of 60 years Ida; their children Ken (Bev), Ron (Vi), Linda (John), Brian (Cheryl), Garry (Tammy), Doug (Joanne), all of Regina, SK; grandchildren: Tasha (Ryan), Kelly, Tammie (Ken), Trina, Tracy (Joe), Corey (Crystal), Michelle (Nathan), Lisa (Clayton), Fallon, Riley, Ashley, BreeAnne, Bryce, Natasha (Chris), Emily, and Josh; and 13 great grandchildren. Ewald was born in Wilmore, SK, lived and farmed in the Raymore area, served in the army from 1943 through 1945. Ewald and Ida married October 1945 and were blessed with six children. In 1957 they moved to Quinton, SK where they operated a service station for 22 years, was a Cochshutt dealership; auto wrecking, tow truck businessman. In 1979 they moved to Regina where he worked at Sears Canada and Security until his retirement in 1987. Ewald's hobbies included woodworking, plastic flowers, and repairing and selling bikes. He also enjoyed singing in the church choir in his younger years, playing his mouth organ, spoons and button accordian. Ewald's jokes were enjoyed by all. HUGGER - Agatha "Aggie" (nee Lang) Hugger, was born October 7, 1912 in Botalch, Romania. She came to Canada in 1920 with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Lang. Aggie was married to William Hugger on March 5, 1935. She moved from Quinton, to Regina in 1941, and resided in Regina until September of 2003, when she moved to Weyburn to be closer to her daughter and resided at Parkway Lodge until her passing. Aggie passed away on July 7, 2006 at the Weyburn General Hospital at the age of 93. Aggie is survived by her daughters: Lottie (Dave) Hutchinson, Calgary, AB, and Rose (Daniel) Dembiczak, Weyburn; four grandchildren: Grant (Teri) Hutchinson, Calgary, AB, Janice (Colin) Hutchinson-Roberts, Calgary, AB, Douglas (Marilyn) Dembiczak, Weyburn, Colleen (Lenn) Dembiczak-McDonald, Regina; six great grandchildren: Molly and Anna Hutchinson, Samuel and Daniel Roberts, Calgary, AB; step great granddaughters, Krista and Kara Sandney, Weyburn; brother, Anthony (Catherine) Lang, Port Orchard, Washington; sister-in-law, Lillian Lang, Abbotsford, BC; as well as many nieces and nephews. JOHN - Michael "Mickey", born on May 6, 1926 in the family farmhouse south of Quinton, Saskatchewan and passed away on February 28, 2007 at Douglas Fir, Cottonwoods Extended Care, Kelowna, BC. Mickey was predeceased by his eldest son (Michael), his parents (Ambrose and Regina Johns), 6 siblings in infancy, brothers (Jim, Bruce, Ernie), also sisters (Annie, Marion, Marjie, Julia, Betty, Martha and Regina) his in-laws (Nicholas and Mary Loffler). He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary, his 4 children, Nichol (Don), Gregory, Erryoll and Colette (Dean), 7grandchildren and 11 greatgrandchildren and sisters, Isabelle (Bob), Vivian, Minnie, Ethel, Agnes (Bill). In his early years, Mickey traveled to Hamilton, ON to work at a steel mill and also Trail, BC to work in the foundry. During the summer months, he would return to the family farm to help out his parents. In 1951, he married Mary Loffler and they had 5 children. He continued to farm until 1965, when he moved his wife and children to Regina, SK. He secured work as the manager of the Balaton Hungarian Cultural Club for 7 years and also continued to farm until 1972. In 1977, Mickey moved his wife and 2 youngest children to Kelowna. Within 2 years the rest of the children followed. While in Kelowna, he worked at 3 golf courses as a groundperson. He also worked at Orchard Park Mall as a maintenance man until 1984 at which time he was forced to retire due to poor health. Following his retirement, Mickey and Mary traveled to the southern US for the winters, doing so until he was diagnosed with cancer in 2000. Mickey fought a hard battle against the cancer for several years. He will be sadly missed by his family and those who knew him. The family wishes to thank Dr. Michael Delorme, Aldon and the rest of the staff at the BC Cancer Clinic in Kelowna. We also thank the staff at Douglas Fir for all the wonderful care that Mickey received from them since January 16, 2007. A Celebration of Life will be held on March 6, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at the Valleyview Funeral Home, 165 Valleyview Road, Kelowna, BC.
KAUTH - Mary (nee Deutsh). Mary passed away peacefully at Silver Heights Special Care Home, in Raymore, SK on September 6, 2011. She is survived by her son David Kauth of Raymore his children Dawn Lewis, Dean Kauth, and Kristopher Kauth. Her daughter Irene Kauth-Solmes (Don Solmes) of Lanigan their children Alison Solmes (Darryl Dumaresque), and Kevin Solmes, her son in law Bill Bobyk and his sons Bill and Bart(Shawna) Bobyk, and her 8 great grand children. Mary was predeceased by her husband Charles in December of 1988, son Gregory in July 1971, daughter Jeanette in July 2011. Mary was born on August 31, 1917 on the family farm in Quinton, SK and spent most of her life in the Quinton Raymore area. Mary enjoyed being around family and friends and enjoyed feeding all that came to visit. She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends. (Tracey) Kleiner and April Kleiner; special great-grandson `Cole'; sisters-inlaw, Tresha Dosdall, Katie Dosdall and Emma Dosdall; several nieces and nephews; special niece Elaine (Garth) Grey. Katherine grew up on the family farm in the Quinton area, moving to Regina upon her marriage to raise her family. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, taking the bus downtown for coffee. She was an avid gardener at heart, growing gladiolus. She was a life member of the Regina Gladiolus Society. The family would like to thank the staff at the Renal Care Unit of the Regina General Hospital for their care and compassion in dealing with Katherine's health needs. The last years of Katherine's life were spent at Extendicare/ Parkside Nursing Home where she met new friends while receiving excellent care and support with her daily living needs. Parkside was Katherine's "home" at the time of her passing. At Katherine's request, there will be no Funeral Service. Katherine will be cremated and interment will take place in Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery.
KONCZ - Joseph Kalman of Quinton, Sk., passed away peacefully with his family by his side Saturday, January 23, 2010 at the age of 74. KREITZER - Gottlieb John passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 14, 2010 at Regina General Hospital at the age of 76 with family by his side. Gottlieb farmed in Quinton/Punnichy area for fifty years. Gottlieb is survived by his loving wife Doris. Four children Velma (Dennis), and their children Dallas and Megan, Blair (Brenda), and their children Micheal (Amy) and Amanda (Curtis), Sharon (Dean),and their children Jennifer, Jamie and Barry, Yolanda (Darren) and children Dustin,Travis and Tyler. And also four great grandchildren Jordyn, Jessie, Kylie and Ashton. His siblings Jack (Lynn), Sisters Julia (Steve), and Ann. Gottlieb was predeceased by his parents Jacob and Elizabeth, brother in law Joe Koncz and sister in law Doreen Kreitzer. Funeral services will be held in Quinton, Sask on Monday April 19 at 2:00 pm at Quinton Community Hall.
LANG - Anne Margaret, aged 93 years and 9 months, passed away peacefully in her sleep, April 16th, 2010, at Luther Special Care Home in Saskatoon. Anne was born in 1910 on a small farm near Winnipeg, the daughter of Franz and Agatha Lang (nee Reiss). She was predeceased by her siblings, Wenzel, Rose, Rudy and Martha, as well as her loving husband, John M. Lang (1909-1988). John and Anne married in 1932 and farmed near Quinton until 1967 when they retired in Regina. Anne is survived by her five children: Lorraine (Tony Schneider), Linus (Lucille Gray), Edmund (Linda Kambeitz), James (Mary Ackroyd), and Carol (Barry Games). She also treasured her thirteen grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. A lifelong devout Roman Catholic, Anne's abiding faith never wavered. Generous and kind to a fault, she will be remembered lovingly by all who knew her and mostly by her children, to whom she gave the greatest gift of all, life itself. The family is sincerely grateful to Dr. Tymchak and to the staff of Luther Care for their outstanding professional care and assistance. We are also deeply indebted to Anne's first grandchild, Kathy Kautzman (nee Schneider) for the exceptional care she provided our mother in our absence over the past several years. Vigil for Anne will be held on Thursday, April 22nd, 7:00 pm and the Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, April 23rd, 10:30 am., both services to be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church (315 Douglas Ave. E., Regina, SK), celebrated by Fr. LLOYD - Rose (nee Laslo). It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our Mom, Gramma, GreatGramma, Big Mama & friend Rose Lloyd on Thursday, September 2, 2004 at the age of 80. She is predeceased by husband Harold in October, 2003, son Harold George in infancy, brother Bernie, sister Betty, and her parents. Rose will be sadly missed by her five children Jorie (Ray) Kutcher, Margaret (Les) Matts, Lolly (Rick) Hicks, Donna (Brent) Machuk and Michael (Susan) Lloyd, her sisters Margaret and Irene, brothers John, Maynard and Willie, twelve grandchildren Christine (Aaron), Kyla (Darren), Nolan, Jason, Carla, Doug, Amanda, Kerry, Nicolas, Victor, Jessica and Jeremy and eight great-grandchildren Sydney, Erikk, Keely, Emily, Kassidy, Aby, Sammy, and Isabella, and her faithful dog Scrappy. Rose was born near Quinton, SK on January 20, 1924. She married Harold on May 12, 1943 and farmed in the community for five years before moving to Regina. Rose's life revolved around her family and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was famous for her cooking and baking, excelled in quilting and crocheting, enjoyed working on crossword puzzles, loved gardening and loved her flowers and plants. Mom and Dad spent many years fishing, camping, travelling and spending summers at the cottage. She loved to sing and play the guitar. Mom took up golfing in her 70's and as of last weekend, she had golfed over 100 games this year. Mom was our strength and pillar and kept our family together. A CELEBRATION of Rose's life will be held on Tuesday, September 7, 2004 at 1:00pm at Canadian Martyrs Parish with Fr. Patrick McCoy officiating. Interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park.
LIMBACH - Karl Limbach passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 13, 2008 at Porteous Lodge in Saskatoon, Sask. Karl was born December 27, 1915 to Karl and Caroline Limbach, on their homestead at Edgerbrook District, North of Quinton, Sask. His parents, one sister Minnie DeYoung, brothers-in-law Mervin Johnston, Adrian (Josh) DeYoung and Harry Bann predeceased him. Karl worked at numerous jobs until gaining employment with the City of Saskatoon in the Park Maintenance Department where he worked until retiring. He enjoyed dancing, playing cards and growing flowers and was an active member of the Augustana Lutheran Church throughout his life. He is survived by his sisters Clara Johnston, Esther Hengstler and Hilda Baan. Karl will be deeply missed by his loving family and close friends. A Funeral Service will be held at Hillcrest Funeral Home Chapel (East on 8th Street, turn right before railway crossing) on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor David Hunter officiating. LOVAS - Joseph Paul (November 7, 1918 - January 12, 2010). Joe passed away with family by his side on Tuesday, January 12, 2010, in Regina, SK at the age of 91 years. Joe's passion was farming which he did in the Quinton District. In 1960, the family moved to Regina when Joe's wife, Martha, fell ill. In the same year, Joe began working at Clark's Roofing which he did for the next 27 years. During his retirement years, Joe loved gardening, fishing, ice fishing, and spending quality time with his children, grandchildren, & great grandchildren. Joe will forever be remembered as Old Papa. After Martha passed away in 1961, Joe took on the role of father and mother and raised their six children instilling in them strength, faith, determination and even a mix of stubbornness. Joe was a very humble man and our patriarch of the family will be deeply missed. Joe was predeceased by his wife Martha; daughter Vera; parents Albert & Theresa (nee Sentes) Lovas; stepmother Theresa; brothers Louis & Anton; sister Anne; stepsister Agnes; and members of Martha's family Louis, Billy, Rose & Mary. Cliff and his family operated Cliff's Garage in Quinton from 1944 until his retirement in 1987. Cliff moved to the Manor in Raymore in May 2003. MCAFEE - Thomas Stewart was taken from us tragically on June 10, 2003. He was born on February 25, 1958 to Cliff and Lena McAfee of Quinton where he was raised and attended school, going on to accomplish his journeyman mechanics. MIDDELKAMP - Bernard. On Friday November 26, 2004, Bernard passed away peacefully in the General Hospital at the age of 82 years. He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 61 years Jean; daughter Judy (Terry) Curtis; son's Wayne (Helen), Jim; grandchildren, Lindsey, Adrienne, Graeme, Janel, and Elena; brother Albert (Ruth); brother-in-law Peter Huywan, as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives. Bernard was born in Quinton, SK on December 1, 1921 and was raised on a farm in Raymore, SK. He enlisted in the army on January 6, 1943. He was posted overseas and served during the war. Bernard was employed by Imperial Oil for 32 years. He achieved many safe driving awards throughout his career. Bernard was dedicated to his family and friends. He loved to entertain and always enjoyed company and cards. We will celebrate his life and return to God on what would have been his 83 birthday. PAETZ - Rose passed away peacefully on Dec. 24, 2002. She was born to Jacob and Elizabeth Degenstein on Jan. 14, 1914. She is survived by her daughter Agnes (John) York and her children Daryl Ullman (Janice Elliot) and daughter Chelsea; Ken (Terry) Ullman and sons Jonathon and Jordan; Kathy (Ed) Naf; and Janice Clark (Joel Grey); and daughter Hedy (Bruce) Bany and their children, Marcia (Garth) Reid and daughter Brittany; and son Brent (Irma) Bany and daughter Jaclyn. Also surviving are her sister and brother-in-law Clara (Bill) Bugry; sister-in-laws: Minnie Degenstein, Theresa Degenstein, Mary Degenstein, Magdalene Kampert and Mary Paetz and one brother-in-law John Senft. She is predeceased by husbands Tom Kampert and Albert Paetz and son-in-law Ed Ullman, brothers and sisters Carrie Schlotter (Henry), Alex (Frances), Lena (Otto) Schuler; Frank Joe; Art; John; Tim and Ella Senft. Also predeceased by her are in-laws Ludwig Kampert and his wife; Johanna and Tony Pauloski; Steve and Katie Kampert; John Kampert; Regina and Alphonse Friederich, Martin and Otto Paetz. Rose was an avid gardener; had many hobbies; enjoyed her family; loved to travel and had a great sense of humour. Her deep faith gave great purpose and meaning to her life. POUWELLS - Arnold, late of Sunset Estates, Saskatoon and formerly of Quniton, SK, passed away peacefully at St. Paul's Hospital, Saskatoon on Friday, December 14, 2001 at the age of 67 years. Our dear husband, father and grandfather will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 43 years, Julia; five daughters; Melinda (Major Ken McKay) Kingston, Ont., and their four children; Rhianne, Brendan, Sarah and Devin; Claudette (Charles) Krikau, Waldheim, SK., and their two daughters Christine and Amanda; Nadine (Greg) Ager, Scout Lake, SK, and their four children Camille, Savannah, Buck and Decker; Renita (Dan) Mannion, Saskatoon, SK., and their two sons, Matthew and Michael; Lynette (Ron) Pomerleau, Edmonton, AB., and their two children, Chelsey and Dylan. Also surviving are his seven brothers and sisters, Eva, Leo (Nell), Trudy (Mike), Martha (Joe), Herman, Margaret (John) and Jerry (Lillian) and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, William, his mother, Theodora, and his brother Willy. Arnold was born in Rockglen, SK on December 31st, 1933. He farmed in the Quinton district and later Arnold and Julia moved to Saskatoon where he worked for The Commissionaires for ten years until his retirement. The family expresses their sincere appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff of St. Paul's Hospital. A special note of gratitude is extended to the staff from the Renal Unit at St. Paul's Hospital for the wonderful, loving care they gave our husband and father over the last three years. SCHACHTEL - Barbara (nee Palfy) October 1, 1914 - October 21, 2003. Barbara was born to Steven and Kathleen Palfy in the Plunkett, SK area, grew up there on a farm and attended Golden Hill School. She married Paul on November 7, 1940, and they raised their family on a farm near Quinton, SK. Her husband died several years before her on November 19, 1992. She was the last surviving member of her family, predeceased by her parents, an aunt Mary, a sister Mary (Edward) Comeault, and eight brothers: John (as an infant), Steve, Paul (Florence), Laddie, Jim (Julia), Frank, Bill (Magdie), Mickey (Margaret). She was also predeceased by brothers and sisters-in-law: Gottlieb (Vera) Schachtel, John Schachtel, Mary (Vince) Prokop, Tina Schachtel, Sister Henrietta Schachtel, OSU, Fran Gates, John Degelman and Bob Dionne. She is remembered with love by: her daughters Theresa (Zyg) Zabek, Margaret (Pete) McCracken, Bernadette Senft, Mary (Lee) Sarauer, Barbara (Martin) Morhart, twelve grandchildren: Lisa (Doug) Ransome, Chris Zabek, Robin (Tara) Zabek, Kitt (Blake) Rothstein, Sean (Carly) McCracken, Rebecca McCracken, Sam McCracken, Tara (Shane) Lodewyck, Devon Sarauer, Rachell Sarauer, Jeremy Morhart, Tyler Morhart; three great grandchildren: Eden, Tayce and Phoenix Rothstein; several sisters and brothers-inlaw: Annie Palfy, Bessie Palfy, Annie Balasz, Fannie Degelman, Mary Schachtel, Vera and Mike Degelman, Bertha Dionne, Phil Gates and numerous nieces and nephews as well as some very dear friends in Quinton and further afield. We remember her as a wonderful loving mother who enjoyed her flower garden, picking berries, sewing, quilting and visiting with friends and family. Mom had a deep reverence for our Lord Jesus, in the Eucharist, attending daily Mass for much of her adult life and prayed countless prayers for all those she loved. Thank you mom, for being you. The Vigil of Prayer will be held on Monday, October 27th, at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 28th at 10:00 a.m. Both services from the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Quinton, SK with Rev. SCHLOSSER - Anne (nee Bentz). On November 15, 2003 our beloved Anne passed away suddenly at the age of 84 years. Predeceased by her husband Peter in 1986 and her brothers George, Nick, Mick, John, and her sisters Pauline and Bernice. Anne will be lovingly remembered by her children Margaret (Eugene) Senft, Marian (Joe) Nemeth, Jim (Janet) Schlosser, Lydia (Greg) Kapell; grandchildren Brian, Donna (Gary) & Gwen (Barry), Vaughn (Angie) & Darren, Joanne, Jenifer, Jason & Janice; Tricia, Nevin & Kyle; great grandchildren Rachelle & Dylan, Travis, Melissa & Shandel, Kelsey, Matthew & Raesha, Tenesha; as well as one brother Philip; sisters Florence, Ida (Bob) Neuman, Jackie (Joe) Lantz. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2003 at 11:00 AM in St. James R.C. Church, Southey, SK, with Rev. Gary Lindenbach, celebrant. SEARLE - Elizabeth "Elis" was born on a farm near Quinton, Sask on April 1, 1918 and died peacefully at her home in Regina on January 10, 2004. She was predeceased by her husband Bill in 1976; parents Nicholas and Susanna; brothers, Peter, Nicholas and John; and sisters; Eva Miller, Anne Silzer, and Emma Beug. She is survived by sisters Theresa Oehler of Strasbourg, Sask. and Joan McMartin of Powell River, B.C., and brother-in-law, Arthur Beug of Regina as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Elis moved to Toronto in 1941. It was there that she was introduced to the Salvation Army, becoming involved in the ladies group. She met and married Alfred George (Bill) Searle, a sargent-major at Harbor Light. After Bill's death and Elis's retirement, she returned to Saskatchewan in 1983. Elis loved to travel, taking trips to Europe, the Philippines, Australia, New Zealand, Israel and the U.S.A. as well as visiting relatives and friends in B.C. and Ontario. She was also active in the Salvation Army senior program and fundraisers. Playing cards, Scrabble and crosswords were a passion. She will be greatly missed by her surviving relatives and many friends. A memorial service will be held at the Salvation Army Downtown community Church, 2021 McIntyre St., on Saturday January 17, 2004 at 1:00 pm. Captain Denise Walker will be conducting the memorial service. Following Elis's wishes, interment will take place in Toronto at a later date.
SENTES - Lillian L. (nee Bannicke), beloved wife of James of Saskatoon and formerly of Quinton, SK passed away suddenly on Wednesday, January 14th, 2004 at the age of 85 years. A private memorial will be held. The family invites everyone to a reception at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 17th from the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Parish Hall, Saskatoon.
SICH - Frank. It is with great sadness that Frank's family announces his passing on Monday February 5, 2007 at the age of 92 at Lestock Hospital. Predeceased by his wife, parents, 5 sisters and 3 brothers. Left to cherish his memory are his 4 children Rose (Owen), Vicki (Harry), Frank (Rita) and Arnold (Elena), 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, numerous other relatives and friends. A Funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, Quinton on Friday February 9, 2007 at 11 AM. Interment will be at a later date.
ULLMAN - Theresa. Early morning on Friday, February 17th, 2006 our Mom passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 90. She was predeceased by Dad, Rudolph Ullman and her sister, Lena McAfee. She is survived by her three sons, Owen (Rose), Brian (Ruth) and Arden (Sandy); 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; sisters Emma Dosdall, Minnie Kunitz and Gladys Sebastien and brother Rudy Frankl; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. After selling the farm in Quinton, Mom and Dad retired to Regina in 1977. They made many friends on Glasgow Crescent where she enjoyed her garden, cooking for family and friends as well as sewing, making quilts and afghans. After Dad passed away in 1987, she moved into Kleisinger Crescent where she made new friends. In January of this year, she moved into Mutchmor Lodge to pamper herself where she thoroughly enjoyed her last days. Prayers for family and friends will be held at the Church of Immaculate Conception in Quinton at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, February 20th. Funeral Services will be held at the Church of Immaculate Conception in Quinton at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday February 21st. Interment in the Quinton R.C. Cemetery.
URSULAN - Max Ursulan passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 6, 2006 at Silver Heights Special Care Home at the age of 96. Predeceased by his parents; brothers, Andrew and Nick; and sister, Rose Lang; Max is survived by his loving wife of 66 1/2 years, Agatha; sons, Alvin, Consort, AB and Ray (Judy); daughters, Shirley (Glen) Gentles and Bev (Stan) Ollinger all of Regina, SK; 9 grandchildren; 3 great grandsons; 1 brother, Steve (Joyce) Kelowna, B.C.; 4 sisters: Anne Langenburger and Mary Lee both of Saskatoon, SK, Thersea Gyorfi and Beth Roberts both of Kelowna, B.C. Max was born February 24, 1910 on the family homestead. He started farming in 1936 on the homestead. Max married Agatha Gyorfi on Oct. 26, 1939 and continued farming until the fall of 1969 when he and Agatha made their home in Quinton. He continued helping Alvin with the farm work for a few more years. The first winter in town Max assisted as the caretaker of the skating rink. Max became a resident of Silver Heights Special Care Home in October 2002. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, April 10, 2006 at 10:30 A.M. in the Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, Quinton, SK with Rev. Peter Nguyen, Celebrant. Interment to follow in the Quinton Catholic Cemetery.
WALTER - Gladys (nee Loreth) of Quinton, Sask., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at the age of 71 years. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert; her parents, Annie and Stanley; and brothers Alvin and Ronald. Gladys is survived by her sons Dwayne (Joanne) Foam Lake and James (Myrna), Quinton; daughters Denise (Eldon) Sebastian, Quinton and Janice (Kasey) Krietemeyer, Regina; three sisters Vivian Leszczynski, Agnes Weber and Doreen (Leroy) Gorski; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, Quinton with Reverend P.T. Nguyen, Celebrant. Interment will follow in the Quinton R.C. Cemetery.
WEBER - Butch Cletus Joseph Weber. Butch passed away August 12, 2011 at home in Fort Saskatchewan, SK. He was 68 years old. Predeceased by his father William Weber. He is survived by his mother Agnus, wife Brenda, daughters Nicole, Dani, Twyla and Sheri (Barry), his grandchildren Jacob, Jarred and Jenna. Brothers Ron (Joyce) Wilf and Dick (Judy), sisters MariAnn (Frank), Cindy (Lyle), Helen (Leonard), Lorianne (Murray), Jane (Lorne), Kathy, Eileen (Tim). Sisters-in-law Madeline (Don), Barb, brothers-in-law Art (Ann), Dennis & Geoff (Gloria) as well as numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was born and raised in Quinton, SK. Butch loved driving trucks. He covered many miles throughout his 50 year career. Meeting many people and making many friendships along the way. When he wasn't on the road he enjoyed spending time with his family at home. He will be fondly remembered and truly missed by all. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stoke Foundation. A memorial service will be held Friday, August 19, 2011 at 10:30am at the Quinton Roman Catholic Church. With interment to follow. Luncheon will be held at the Quinton Hall.
WEBER - Sister Mechtildis (Seraphine) Weber, OSU, (Prelate) was called into eternal life on April 19, 2005 at St. Joseph's Home in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. She was 91 years old. Daughter of John and Mary (Hector) Weber, Sister Mechtildis was born in Quinton, Saskatchewan on July 5, 1913, the youngest of ten children. In 1932 she entered the Ursuline Congregation and made her first profession in 1934. Her early teaching was at Denzil and Tramping Lake and later she served as High School principal at Prelate Public, Goodsoil, Primate and Tramping Lake Schools. A multi-talented educator, she coached sports teams and directed choral and drama groups and served as a counsellor for the international "Up With People " movement. She taught psychology at Alberta College in Edmonton for 13 years and in her last fifteen years of ministry served as director of the Edmonton Archdiocesan Renewal Services Centre. In 2001, she moved to Saskatoon, spending her last years at St. Angela Merici Residence and St. Joseph's Home. Her Ursuline Community expresses sincere gratitude to the Sisters of St. Joseph and the staff for their competent and compassionate care of Sister Mechtildis. Left to cherish her memory are the Ursuline Sisters; her special nephew, James (Paula) Weber; nieces and nephews and numerous friends. She was predeceased by her mother in 1927; her father in 1943; her sisters, Hedwig, Marie, Elsie, Tillie and Anne; her brothers, Otto, Jack, Ed and Bill. A Vigil will be celebrated at St. Angela Merici Residence (125 Cree Crescent, Saskatoon) at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 21st. The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Angela's Convent, Prelate, SK at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 22nd. Rite of Committal will be in the Prelate Cemetery.
